What Do You Need To Know About the Stage 2 Cylinder Head?

So what is the deal with this head? How can it give you better performance? We're here to answer your questions!

Inconel Material

One of the main things you'll get with this head over the standard head for the C15/C15 ACERT/3406E is upgraded valves.

That's right, we're talking inconel material.

On the Stage 2 head, the exhaust valves have been upgraded to inconel material, which allows the valves to handle more temperature and more pressure than standard exhaust valves.

You'll often see inconel material in racing, turbo-charged, super-charged, and boosted applications. Building off a strong foundation, it helps increase the coolant flow in the castings.

It also has a higher nickel content, which improves upon the original casting.

Preventing Chordal Fracture

If you push a standard valve beyond what it was designed to handle, temperature and pressure-wise, you get what's known as chordal fracture.

That's why the valves are upgraded. The Stage 2, 3, and 4 heads all use inconel material in the valves.

Because of this, you'll be getting a stronger and more robust head that can handle what you throw at it. The upgraded valves reduce the threat of chordal fracture.
