Why Natural Gas Cylinder Heads Crack More Than Standard Heads
When you're operating a natural gas engine one of the components that can cause you the most problems is the cylinder head. They tend to crack even more than you might find with your standard cylinder head.

These cylinder heads are similar to any other cylinder head, but they're more susceptible to cracks and failures. This is because of the increase in extreme pressures. With a normal diesel cylinder head so you might get one or two cracks, but with a natural gas engine you're likely to end up with 8-12 cracks.
It's important to know that a remanufactured cylinder head that has been welded, even by the best welders with the best processes will never be as strong as the original head was. So if you have a cylinder head with many cracks in different spots and you have to weld it, the overall quality of the cylinder head won't be as good.
